A wonderful time to gather is when Christmas comes to call
Our families gather for this joyous occasion and have a ball
The men in the living room telling great stories of the year
Moms are in the kitchen with sounds of laughter we all hear

The kids are heading outside, winter games they will play
Patiently waiting to celebrate this most wonderful holiday
The hour will come when every child a toy they can claim
When their gifts under the tree will be handed out by name

Aroma of fresh baked turkey has been lingering in the air
No choice but to sneak in the dining area and begin to stare
If I were but a mere horse, I would really enjoy this stable
Mounds of food of all sorts has engulfed this delicious table
        
Deviled eggs on a platter sit near the center of this fine art
With a fresh bowl of eggnog that is going to steal my heart
Another platter with dividers for the olives, dip and celery
With a few bottles of beverage from Uncle Walt’s winery

Mounds of cranberry sauce look very delicious I must say
Along with banana, raisin and cornbread leading the way
Fresh yams have been sautéed with brown sugar and syrup
(Growl), it must be near the time we gather the family up

A mountain of potatoes smothered in gravy is in my sight
Visions of kids that will be fast asleep long before night
A pot full of stuffing sits on the table and beckons for me
Meals of this magnitude, I may keep the children company

Just when I thought my two eyes couldn't take any more
Out from the kitchen the women bring fresh pies galore
The smell of cinnamon & sugar has come to my attention
From this fresh hot apple pie that I just have to mention

As the stomach is churning and the mouth begins to drool
Mom enters the dining room with utensils we use as a tool
From that moment on, I knew the time was going to be soon
To tackle that big mound of mashed potatoes with my spoon

The tree gives off a warm glow as a log is tossed on the fire
The turkey was brought out and set on the table to admire
With all eyes gazing at the food, we give the women a cheer
A meal made for a king, is about to magically disappear

As everyone sat in awe, their eyes grew as big as this earth
We thank the good lord, then dug in for what it was worth
Laughter is heard at the table as we enjoy this festive way
A time to bring family together, and have a Happy Holiday!
